Or so I thought until one night when I woke up handcuffed to my worst nightmare: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. Or in Amanda's case, buttoned all the way up to her chin. She's smart, sexy, witty, and wants nothing to do with the paranormal-in other words, me.

My attraction to Amanda Devereaux goes against everything I stand for. Not to mention the last time I fell in love it cost me not only my human life, but also my very soul. Yet every time I look at her, I find myself wanting to try again. Wanting to believe that love and loyalty do exist.

Even more disturbing, I find myself wondering if there's any way a woman like Amanda can love a man whose battle scars run deep, and whose heart was damaged by a betrayal so savage that he's not sure it will ever beat again.

Kyrian of Thrace

The first of the actual Dark Hunter Books. I just finished reading the latest installment of the Dark Hunter books, Unleash the Night and can't get enough of these sexy Daimon hunters, these studs of the night. So, I couldn't help BUT start a reread of these books. I finished my reread of Night Play on Saturday night (1/07) and boy oh boy was I stoked to start the next one, however Night Embrace is in my desk drawer at work, so I started on another book until I could nab my book from work. hehe.

But, back to Night Pleasures. Kyrian of Thrace is one sexy motherbrother. He's one of those guys that junior high girls tape to their walls at home, the kind of man older women dream of having an affair with, this man is simply the whole package. And he never dies? Oh yeah, he'll slay your demons, he'll love you all night and he'll give you the big O plenty of times, you'll be sore for a week. The stuff dreams are made of, that's Kyrian of Thrace for you.

His story is one of my favorites of the series, and I love him to pieces. The story of him and Theone, in his mortal life really breaks my heart. No one deserves to be hurt like that, especially since most warriors of his time were almost NEVER loyal or faithful to their vows to their wives at home, but Kyrian was. Kyrian never once cheated on Theone, he was utterly and completely in love with his wife and saw no reason to dishonor the vows he made to her. But to come home and be betrayed by the one person you loved most in the world, the woman you left your family for, the woman who was supposed to love you with all that she was, just as you loved her with all that you are, it's something that isn't easily forgotten.

But I do believe that to truly move on from being hurt from one person, is to really move on to the next person. You can't and won't get over an ex if there isn't a new prospect waiting to teach you how to love again. I was really cheering Amanda on because she had a lot going against her in this story. Kyrian wasn't going to allow anyone to get close to him, but she broke through his defenses and saved him. Restore his faith in women, restored his faith in trusting others and it really was a great way to end the story.

This book is most definitely a must read. Just ask anyone of the many people I've pimped this book out to, they'll tell you how awesome it is. So, get it, read it and love it. I have no doubt that you will.
