Heartbreaker by Linda Howard
Nothing shocks Rafferty more than discovering that the spoiled, pampered rich girl he once despised is painstakingly trying to run the Cabot ranch herself, working the land with desperation the only thing she has left. He likes this new Michelle and decides to make her his woman. What he doesn't know is that underneath Michelle's cool, polished façade lies heartache, secrets and the raw determination to live life as her own woman. But Rafferty isn't about to take no for an answer.
Another great read from Linda Howard.
John Rafferty has been anamored of Michelle Cabot most of his adult life, he's just too stubborn to admit it. But when opportunity knocks, he takes full advantage by roping Michelle in to a bargain she couldn't refuse. Of course, he never expected to be the one to lose his heart.
Michelle is determined, for once in her life, to prove she's worth more than being some man's trophy. Though it's tough, she's doing all that she can to keep her father's ranch alive. When John Rafferty comes in to the picture, Michelle knows her heart is in trouble, but depsite her feelings, she knows she can't let him take away her newfound independance.
I loved John...the typical rancher alpha-male, he was the perfect counterpart to Michelle's feminine, yet stubborn character. Watching the two of them go head to head was a very enjoyable experience.
